NYC-based producer/DJ DROP THE LIME—born Luca Venezia--is branching out.  For his album ENTER THE NIGHT, out July 3 on Ultra Music, he adds songwriter, guitarist and vocalist to his credits.  With passion for bass and a thirst for blood, he weaves a baroque nighttime fantasy, riding the range from the ashes of rave into the dark heart of rock & roll.  The first official single from the album is “Bandit Blues,” out May 22, with its accompanying video to be made available soon.

His music (like his life) is an epic adventure of mystery, heartbreak and magic, combining the gun-slinging swagger of Ennio Morricone, the techno grandeur of Underworld, and the storytelling prowess of Johnny Cash.  As influenced by Ritchie Valens as Richie Hawtin, “Bandit Blues” finds Venezia marrying his blues guitar licks and unmistakably sultry croon to the sheer dance music wizardry that has become his trademark. It was New York City—where, in addition to New Orleans and London, he recorded the album--that was the draw for “Bandit Blues.”

“Being born there and having so much love for the city means I wear it on my sleeve,” says Venezia of ENTER THE NIGHT’s first single.  “It's an incredible inspiration for me, but right now, it feels like there's a lot of struggle going on with the economy and the people. The economy being a mess, politics being a mess--everything is a mess. The only way to really enjoy it is through music."

To support the track, DROP THE LIME will embark on a select number of DJ dates.  From now until the end of June, he’ll appear in Austin, Los Angeles, Miami and New York City.   Complete dates and venues are:

Beginning on a big room progressive house groove, Mat moves into a melodic, synth-driven breakdown before flipping in to a gnarly bass-throttled section that has been causing serious damage in Mat's recent sets from Miami's Bayfront Amphitheatre to London's Brixton Academy. Totally unexpected, the final drop comes loaded with surging synths.

 

Mat’s extensive North American schedule this summer is a true indicator of the young prodigy’s burgeoning demand and stardom. A large majority of the dates will include The Language Tour, joining another of electronic music’s preeminent young talents, Porter Robinson, and The M Machine, whose recent debut artist album Metropolis has met widespread praise.

On May 28, Axtone Records will release the debut mix compilation from superstar DJ, producer and remixer Thomas Gold. Entitled Axtone Presents Thomas Gold, – it’s all about Thomas Gold and his superior talents. For his mix, Thomas created cutting edge tracks from some of his favorite producers and combined them with his own special edits, remixes and original tracks; many of which you simply cannot hear anywhere else. It’s pure class and exactly what you’d expect from Thomas Gold - another superior release from Axwell’s beloved label.

 

Thomas Gold is rapidly rising through the dance world thanks to smashes including “Marsch Marsch” (Toolroom) and “Alive” and “Eyes Wide Open” in collaboration with Dirty South (Phazing). However it was “AGORa” with Steve Angello on Size that helped cement his status as a world-class producer. It wasn’t long before he was counting DJs as varied as Tiësto, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Laidback Luke, and of course, Swedish House Mafia as fans of his productions. German producer/DJ extraordinaire ROGER SHAH teams up with returning hit vocalist INGER HANSEN for this summer’s next installment of their successful collaboration series. Off ROGER SHAH’s new artist album ‘Openminded!?’, and with ‘Breaking Waves’ and ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ already under their belts, the duo have racked up over 15 million cumulative hits on YouTube. 

The smooth and groovy bass line of the extended version of ‘Dance With Me’ instantly melts your heart at its core. The resounding foundation and melodic hook are deeply driven by the unwavering sound of the trademark Roger Shah Balearic guitar. A distance of several thousand miles hasn’t stopped the combined talents of Miami’s Tim Grube and Los Angeleno Mike Hovsepian developing a substantial following in whip-quick time. Grube & Hovsepian are back this month with their first song-based outing - the beautiful 'Venom', which features the siren-like vocal allure of Tiffany Johnston.

Since becoming part of Markus Schulz’s management project Schulz Music Group, Tim and Mike have performed the biggest gigs to date, including the release party for the 'Los Angeles ’12' album at Avalon and the WMC closing party at Space in Miami. A standout highlight in both of those sets was this precision cut slice of progressive trance.

Since debuting on Markus Schulz's Global DJ Broadcast show back in March, it has quickly become a fan favourite and subsequently turned into one of Coldharbour’s most anticipated releases of the year to date. On the mix are 4-man production collective Miami Life, who have given the track a bouncier edge, combined it with a tougher, grooving feel.

This coast-to-coast musical alliance continues to advance at speed. 'Venom' strikes on May 7th!

What the dance press say about 'Venom':

Grube & Hovesepian's latest: "masses atmosphere from start to finish", says EDM Mag and has "exceptional vocal delivery' for its "hang-off-every-word lyrics". The UK's DJ Mag thinks that "Venom’ could very well be Grube & Hovsepian’s coming-of-age track", giving it 8.5/10 in their May issue review. Mixmag meanwhile says that "Venom’ is a never less than enthralling listen"; "is packed with the type of suck-you-in prog-trance atmosphere that’s been MIA way too long" and declares that "as the vocal debut from the pair, it’s an extremely assured one". 

After countless singles, remixes and an album release under the well known Progression guise, Daniel Wanrooy now moves on to a whole new level in his career and presents his debut solo album entitled “Slice Of Life”. 

Daniel has been pretty busy in the midst of the recording sessions for his new album. While working on “Slice Of Life” he finished remix assignments for The Crystal Method, Super8 & Tab, JES and Thrillseekers and saw his earlier single “Endless Moments” secured by Ferry Corsten, who used it for his double mix compilation “Once Upon A Night, Vol.2”. The same happened with Betsie Larkin with Super8 & Tab’s “All We Have Is Now” in the Daniel Wanrooy remix, which Corsten grabbed for “Full On Ferry - Ibiza”. 

If that wasn’t enough, Daniel also delivered his DJ mix for the “In Trance We Trust, Volume 14” mix compilation. Bookings poured in and Daniel performed in Brazil, Taiwan, South Africa and the U.K and in most European countries. This summer, Daniel will make his debut on Ibiza. 

The prelude to all these achievements was the single “Ocean Terrace”, which now appears on the album in a special 2012 version that already gained the support of Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and BBC Radio 1. Richard Durand reserved it for his “In Search of Sunrise 8, South Africa” mix compilation. Durand later requested Daniel’s “Bangalore” for his “In Search of Sunrise 9, India”, once again confirming the outstanding quality of the tracks. 

For the album Daniel collaborated with several established artists such as USA Idols finalist Blake Lewis, Elliot Johns, Emma Lock and Hannah Ray. He mastered the album together with Tiësto’s producer Dennis Waakop Reijers-Fraaij.

Daniel Wanrooy is proud to present the album in its full glory. He has put a lot of effort in the project and ceased the opportunity to move between styles, showcasing his skills as a prolific producer: “For the “Slice Of Life” project my goal was to work with various sounds in order to create a varied Electronic Dance Music album, with influences of progressive, house, trance and even techno, moving the BPM between 123 and 133. Working with the biggest vocalists in the scene made this an accomplishment that I am really proud of.”

One thing is clear: Daniel Wanrooy’s “Slice Of Life” is a unique electronic dance album that will become the best addition to your collection this year!
